Save precious human lives due to Carbon Monoxide (CO) inhalation

 

Ideation

Brainstorm during the summer internship to come up with a product idea, which is impactful for the society, practical to develop in the time I had as well as allows me exposure into the exciting field of engineering.

Research

Thorough research starting with understanding of the target market and their socio-economic conditions. Next was to research about the various ways a CO-detector can be built, and then deciding upon the method which is both cost-sensitive and effective. 

Upskilling

Ofcourse, all of this was new for me and beyond my regular high-school course work. 

I started with deep-diving into domain concepts (Integrated Circuits, board-design,  integration and programming) and technical details of the sub-components (ESP32, MQ7, bread-board, Piezoelectric Buzzers, etc.)


Development & Testing

One thing which I learnt is that the time well spent during research and upskilling can significantly result in easy development. I developed the product as well as the needed ESP32 programming to get CO reading and raise an alarm on detecting harmful CO levels.

In the absence of sophisticated CO concentration level generation, I could do my testing under more natural environments only.
